Is that a Coolibah tree beside the abandoned house? Every Australian knows about Coolibah trees because the bush ballad Waltzing Matilda is nigh on our unoffical national anthem but most of us live nowhere near the inland where they grow. Once a jolly swagman camped by a billabong, Under the shade of a Coolibah tree, And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled, You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me. Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda, You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me, And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me.
"To muse, to creep, to halt at will, to gaze ... such sweet wayfaring"
William Wordsworth
I've never been through this part of Queensland before so looking forward to seeing it through your eyes.
ReplyDeleteI had been right up north as a kid but remembered hardly anything. On the other hand, my husband went up there as a kid about the same age and remembered heaps. I dunno what I was doing ... sleeping probably.
DeleteWhen the flower blooms it is time to harvest so you might not see lots more.
ReplyDeleteAh yes, we discovered that those flowers mean harvest time.
DeleteI don't think I've ever noticed the flowers before!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't either. They are so pretty with loads and loads of pinkish fluffy flowers across the field. There are more shots somewhere in the sequence.
