Timber bridges

Gundagai has these wonderful old timber bridges stretching across the river flats - one a road bridge and other a railway bridge. The caravan park is nestled between them.

You can see the bridges in the image below, taken from the local lookout. The road bridge was part of the Hume Highway until 1976 when it was replaced by the first Sheahan Bridge ... I will show you that tomorrow.

  1. Amazing that these are still operational must have been well made. Great view over the town and bridges.

  2. Still existing but no longer operational.

  3. Beautiful photo over the town. The light is perfect, and all looks so green.

    1. Yes country NSW was surprisingly green for this time of year.

Gundagai exploring

We were having a coffee at the bakery and I noticed a sign on a hotel saying it was a Cobb and Co coach stop.  That got me wondering if there was a hidden Royal Hotel in the town.  A quick google revealed not that hotel but this derelict one as the former Royal.
