Is that a Coolibah tree beside the abandoned house? Every Australian knows about Coolibah trees because the bush ballad Waltzing Matilda is nigh on our unoffical national anthem but most of us live nowhere near the inland where they grow. Once a jolly swagman camped by a billabong, Under the shade of a Coolibah tree, And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled, You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me. Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda, You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me, And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me.
"To muse, to creep, to halt at will, to gaze ... such sweet wayfaring"
William Wordsworth
I have not seen either of the two meadows you mention. The closest I came was when I mandered through the Bois de Boulogne on the outskirts of Paris. It is not planted, but it is maintained.
ReplyDeleteI like that type of meadow too. Maintained in a city environment usually means that weeds have to be removed.
DeleteBeautiful colours both in this and the previous shot.
ReplyDeleteColour is always fun.
DeleteLovely colours. Just as good as WA.
ReplyDeleteThat's good. Because it will be a while before we make it to WA. But I will get there one day I hope.
