Roma

We didn't stay long at Roma.  Just enough time to pick up some supplies and eat a pie at the local bakery.  It feels big town.  It's booming with gas mining activity.  It also has a huge cattle sale yard but there were just a few animals there on the day.

And oh yes, I spotted a Royal Hotel among the rather nice buildings lining the main street.

  1. Nothing better than a pie in country town, and good find of another Royal for your collection.

  3. Nice to see a new Royal from your trip. I was going through some shots of Guyra the other day and realised there is a Royal there and I missed it, but it was a cold rainy day so I was only out of the car for a short time. Next time!

  4. Ray has sent in some more Royals but you might have noticed I have not been in the blogosphere much of late ... very busy ... I will put them up along with this Royal in the gallery soon.

  5. Virtually no Royals where I've been in WA - but you ARE one up on me! I've been through Roma a few times, but don't recall ever eating at the bakery!!! The shame, the shame ...

Windy August

Tumbleweed It was August (known to be a windy month of the year) and it was blowing a gale.  Tumbleweeds hurtled across our path, pressed forward by the busy wind. While I was photographing the tumbleweed, I braved the icy blast to find a few more tiny flowers and fruits by the roadside.

Big sky country 3

The Pinnacles, Broken Hill Clear blue sky is very dull!  But there is something of interest in the image.  These odd shaped mountains appear on the skyline just outside the city. I had planned otherwise for my closing sky today.  On a hill outside town there are wonderful sandstone sculptures which I saw the last time I was here. I planned to photograph them against the setting sun but we left our run too late, so you don’t get to see them until our return journey.
