Is that a Coolibah tree beside the abandoned house? Every Australian knows about Coolibah trees because the bush ballad Waltzing Matilda is nigh on our unoffical national anthem but most of us live nowhere near the inland where they grow. Once a jolly swagman camped by a billabong, Under the shade of a Coolibah tree, And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled, You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me. Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda, You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me, And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me.
"To muse, to creep, to halt at will, to gaze ... such sweet wayfaring"
William Wordsworth
This really looks menacing. This would be the time when I would say: Okaaaay let's see if we can find some cosy hotel room ;-)
ReplyDeleteTalk about moody ... look at that wee peek between sky and earth ... delightful!
ReplyDeleteI like the little acid green mounds in the foreground.
ReplyDeleteRather threatening when there's hardly any foliage to shelter under.
ReplyDeleteMartina and Winam, there was no lightening and we were safe and dry in the car ... just a little wet setting up camp but could escape into our warm and dry little van soon after.
ReplyDeleteJulie, everything about the light that day delighted me.
Letty, those little green mounds were why I chose this particular photo from the many I took that day. I like them too.
So beautiful and full of drama!
