Is that a Coolibah tree beside the abandoned house? Every Australian knows about Coolibah trees because the bush ballad Waltzing Matilda is nigh on our unoffical national anthem but most of us live nowhere near the inland where they grow. Once a jolly swagman camped by a billabong, Under the shade of a Coolibah tree, And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled, You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me. Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda, You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me, And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me.
"To muse, to creep, to halt at will, to gaze ... such sweet wayfaring"
William Wordsworth
ah, yes, it would be nice if you could get a picture of a steaming train :) but I do like the way it looks with that lighting
ReplyDeleteA coal shuttle, an oil can ... what's the other one?
ReplyDeleteAre the objects inside the train where they once belonged?
ReplyDeleteThe first photo is very good with the focus on the can in the background and the black metal train cladding as background.
ReplyDeleteJulie, no idea. Perhaps a lamp of some sort.
ReplyDeleteJM, not they were sitting on the bench at the front of the train.
Martina, thanks for making the out of focus bit a virtue.
Megan, at the end of May they have steam train weekend in the mountains. I may try to get some steaming then.
Oh these are lovely, battered items. I've always loved technical and transportation museums as much as those dedicated to art. There's so much beauty either place.
ReplyDeleteIt looks in good condition. Maybe, they take it out to belch some steam now and then
ReplyDeleteAB, I was told the train is in working order so does get out sometimes.
