Northern Rivers

I was too busy making visits to relatives to take photos at Gympie, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and Gold Coast but here we are on the road again, leaving Queensland and back in New South Wales.  We decided to stick to the coast on the Pacific Highway for our trip home to stay warm just a little longer --
the inland can be very cold at this time of year.  We haven't driven the Pacific Highway for years and were pleasantly surprised with the improvements in the road.

I took this shot as we drove across the bridge into Grafton.  The Northern Rivers district is quite a lovely part of the world, I plan to one day to spend more time here.

  1. It looks like a good place to spend a winter.

  2. Yes but further North is even better. I understand they still get frost in the Northern Rivers

Windy August

Tumbleweed It was August (known to be a windy month of the year) and it was blowing a gale.  Tumbleweeds hurtled across our path, pressed forward by the busy wind. While I was photographing the tumbleweed, I braved the icy blast to find a few more tiny flowers and fruits by the roadside.

The Pinnacles, Broken Hill Clear blue sky is very dull!  But there is something of interest in the image.  These odd shaped mountains appear on the skyline just outside the city. I had planned otherwise for my closing sky today.  On a hill outside town there are wonderful sandstone sculptures which I saw the last time I was here. I planned to photograph them against the setting sun but we left our run too late, so you don’t get to see them until our return journey.
