Is that a Coolibah tree beside the abandoned house? Every Australian knows about Coolibah trees because the bush ballad Waltzing Matilda is nigh on our unoffical national anthem but most of us live nowhere near the inland where they grow. Once a jolly swagman camped by a billabong, Under the shade of a Coolibah tree, And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled, You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me. Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda, You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me, And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me.
"To muse, to creep, to halt at will, to gaze ... such sweet wayfaring"
William Wordsworth
Wow...
ReplyDeleteGrin, that's what I thought too.
DeleteFAAABULOUS to see so much green after such a dry summer!!
ReplyDeleteRed, the end of summer was not at all dry around here.
DeleteWhenever I look out over a landscape like that from up on high, I wish
ReplyDeleteI could spread my wings and soar out over it.
Have you seen this fellow who zooms around on a motorized paraglider?
I saw him years ago in a National Geographic magazine and ever since then
I've dreamt of having a go.

No I haven't and I am almost too scared to follow the link ... I don't like the idea of soaring like a bird on a fragile bit of flying equipment.
DeleteI followed the link anyway ... there is no way i'd dream of doing that ... it would be a nightmare.
