11,000 kilometers

And so we reached the end of our long journey.  In our garden winter flowering camellias were in bloom, the first blossom was whitening the boughs of the pear trees and the air was fragrant with jonquil, daphne and wattle.  Ah home!!

Thank you for following along with me over so many months which actually took 9 weeks but much longer to report.  It has been a delight to relive one of the best journeys I have ever travelled.

  2. That's a VERY long trip!! But one I have enjoyed vicariously as you took me to some familiar places I haven't been in awhile. So how are you going to top it on your next holiday??

    1. Probably back into Qld next winter to fill in some of the gaps. When I am working on the road it is the most convenient ... good phone coverage and in the same time zone ... otherwise I would be tempted to do WA.

The filmy veil of greenness

We crossed the border into Victoria cruising down a lovely timbered road before breaking into the rich dairy country of Gippsland. It is wonderful to see the land green after more than 10 years of very dry weather. But most of the state of Victoria is still drought declared.

Musing:
The Pasture by Robert Frost
"I'm going out to clean the pasture spring;
I'll only stop to rake the leaves away
(And wait to watch the water clear, I may):
I sha'n't be gone long. You come too.

I'm going out to fetch the little calf
That's standing by the mother. It's so young,
It totters when she licks it with her tongue.
I sha'n't be gone long. You come too."

The end

I retire from the workforce this week and to celebrate have decided to retire my current blogs and start afresh with a single consolidated blog - My Bright Field - to record the delights of my new life adventure.
If you are interested follow me over there.  I will still be Sweet Wayfaring and collecting Royal Hotels.  The delights I discover along the way will appear together with my gardens and towns where I live.
