Is that a Coolibah tree beside the abandoned house? Every Australian knows about Coolibah trees because the bush ballad Waltzing Matilda is nigh on our unoffical national anthem but most of us live nowhere near the inland where they grow. Once a jolly swagman camped by a billabong, Under the shade of a Coolibah tree, And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled, You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me. Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda, You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me, And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me.
"To muse, to creep, to halt at will, to gaze ... such sweet wayfaring"
William Wordsworth
There is nothing like a train journey, I have so many great memories, sadly the XPT up our way is no match for the glory days of the Brisbane Limited Express, the Daylight Express or Gold Coast Motorail.. even the North Coast Mail was great fun!
ReplyDeleteThere are few great trains left in OZ but this surely is one of them.
Hey you have done more trains than me. The only one I would have caught of those is Brisbane-Sydney one back in the 1970s ... don't know what it's name was.
DeleteI remember the daylight express. The wheat shot is great. Gives the feeling of a great expanse.
