Window to the sea

I love the way the paths to these lonely beaches open a window to the sea and how there is usually in the frame mesmerised surfers watching the waves.

  1. Nice composition. I like how there's so much vegetation here. A lot of dune areas are just grass and pig face.

  2. Hi Joan, looks like you are having a great break at the seaside.
Really enjoyed the Blue Hour shots and poetry. The Poe poem and shot are wonderful.

  3. Hey I love those windows to the sea too. I'm always clicking those. In fact some of my best pictures are of this. This one is a beauty too. It is just inviting you down to the sea.

  4. Awwww - don't they look cute?

I remember one year we were walking through one of these paths down to the beach at Peregian and there was a snake hanging over the path from a tree!

The end

I retire from the workforce this week and to celebrate have decided to retire my current blogs and start afresh with a single consolidated blog -  My Bright Field  - to record the delights of my new life adventure. If you are interested follow me over there.  I will still be Sweet Wayfaring and collecting Royal Hotels.  The delights I discover along the way will appear together with my gardens and towns where I live.

Coolibah?

Is that a Coolibah tree beside the abandoned house? Every Australian knows about Coolibah trees because the bush ballad Waltzing Matilda is nigh on our unoffical national anthem but most of us live nowhere near the inland where they grow. Once a jolly swagman camped by a billabong, Under the shade of a Coolibah tree, And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled, You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me. Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda, You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me, And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me.

Royal Hotel - Grong Grong

But wait, no trip is complete until a Royal or two has been added to the collection.  This one is at Grong Grong.
