Pink Ladies

The smooth lake looks perfect for gliding on with gentle dipping of oars.  I'm into the groove of relaxation now ... the cares of the city and work a past imagining.

But the restless sea is also close by ... we'll go see the action tomorrow.

  1. Love this composition. The canoes are lovely, and their colours a joy. But the stillness of the pier and its reflection MAKE this image.

  2. I agree - fantastic composition! feels like a relaxing day.

  3. Uh, I don't know if I would be comfortable in a pink boat:):)

  4. Emile, it is funny that you should say that. The title of this post was in some ways a salute to Jessica Watson who sailed solo around the world when only 16 years old ... her yacht was pink and named Pink Lady.

  5. Glad to hear that you are having a relaxing time. This view would calm anyone.

  6. This is my new year's resolution! (not really a resolution - but I'm going with it)
For 4 years now I've been dreaming of owning a canoe/surfski and taking myself off a'paddlin'.
(vince would like a jet-ski - so we can go together - not quite sure how that is going to work).
I've never seen pink ones before.
    Wait til I show Vince!

  7. I really love this shot :) actually your whole journey south was great to see.

The end

I retire from the workforce this week and to celebrate have decided to retire my current blogs and start afresh with a single consolidated blog -  My Bright Field  - to record the delights of my new life adventure. If you are interested follow me over there.  I will still be Sweet Wayfaring and collecting Royal Hotels.  The delights I discover along the way will appear together with my gardens and towns where I live.

Is that a Coolibah tree beside the abandoned house? Every Australian knows about Coolibah trees because the bush ballad Waltzing Matilda is nigh on our unoffical national anthem but most of us live nowhere near the inland where they grow. Once a jolly swagman camped by a billabong, Under the shade of a Coolibah tree, And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled, You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me. Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda, You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me, And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me.

Royal Hotel - Grong Grong

But wait, no trip is complete until a Royal or two has been added to the collection.  This one is at Grong Grong.
