Steam
It's hard to get past the sheer mechanical beauty of a steam train. And look at the photo below. It shows how there is a box with a hole at the top in the roof of the roundhouse to carry the steam up and outside.
Quite delicious, Joan. Trains were such a massive feature in our built environment.
The first image gave me an instant feel of people: of the man shovelling, of the man driving, of the engineer ... like my use of a detail shot to imply the whole ... this shovel shot implies people ... love it.

I guess we've lost that sense of mechanical ingenuity with the digital age.
