Wheat harvest 1 of 3


I will end this trip with a few shots of the wheat harvest.  Throughout the weekend we often found ourselves behind harvesters lumbering their way from paddock to paddock.

We went out along the road to Yeoval looking for Walmer. We knew it was not a town but wondered what might be there.  It turned out to be yet another grain silo.

I've added Walmer as a locality over at 100 towns.

    In the 'good old days' I refered to grain silos as 'country town symbols', not knowing quite how true that was.

    Some places even have a 'heavy machinery' warning sign on the road ... but sadly not anywhere where I can pull over for a pic!

The end

I retire from the workforce this week and to celebrate have decided to retire my current blogs and start afresh with a single consolidated blog -  My Bright Field  - to record the delights of my new life adventure. Coolibah?

Is that a Coolibah tree beside the abandoned house? Every Australian knows about Coolibah trees because the bush ballad Waltzing Matilda is nigh on our unoffical national anthem but most of us live nowhere near the inland where they grow.
