The stone angel at the Catholic Church at Kurrajong forever looks over picturesque undulating farmland that seems to roll on forever.

"This world is not conclusion;
A sequel stands beyond,
Invisible, as music,
But positive, as sound.
It beckons and it baffles;
Philosophies don’t know,
And through a riddle, at the last,
Sagacity must go.
To guess it puzzles scholars;
To gain it, men have shown
Contempt of generations,
And crucifixion known."

I did not see this one first time around.
ReplyDeleteThis is a magnificent statue, the like of which I have not seen before. I have seen many an angel, but of course, here 'tis the angle which impresses. Almost on her toes, ready for the ascent.
The second impressive thing about this photograph is the sunlight in the valley. Gives the image such depth.
And all in honour of the Mc Mahon family. Early residents of some note, judging by their final resting place.
Thank you for continuing a contribution to Taphophile Tragics. I love all posts, reposts - the lot. I agree with you: the variety is just astounding. Many thanks for your support.

She looks a little precarious standing up so high and leaning forward like that.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful outlook from that graveyard.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and unusual angel statue. There are a number of angels in my local cemeteries, but none leaning forward like that.
ReplyDeleteIt seems majestic in a lonely place. Sad and lovely. Now she has a home on the Web. And visitors.
ReplyDeleteWhat a majestic angel!
ReplyDeleteI thought I was looking at a cemetery somewhere in America's wildest. Arizona or Nevada. It has the look of a ghost town. Sagacity, now thats a word I've not heard before
