The sunshine is making the ice sparkle but no matter how hard I tried I could not get the camera to pick up those little glints of light, so you get a gate instead.

  1. *grin* ... I can sense your frustration ... I endure it too when I can see beauty with my eye (and my inner eye) yet cannot reproduce it for others to enjoy. I console myself by thinking that there is a higher power preventing this and that I have to be content.

Now ... for me ... THAT is a statement.

  2. Unless of course you WANTED a good photo of the gate, then it would be blurry and you would only get the sparkles nice and clear.
See? You've got use a bit of reverse psychology on your camera - they are temperamental buggers.

  3. I tried to photograph rain yesterday and got nowhere...

  4. I can see tiny diamonds in the foreground! :-)

The filmy veil of greenness

We crossed the border into Victoria cruising down a lovely timbered road before breaking into the rich dairy country of Gippsland. It is wonderful to see the land green after more than 10 years of very dry weather. But most of the state of Victoria is still drought declared.

The Pasture by Robert Frost
"I'm going out to clean the pasture spring;
I'll only stop to rake the leaves away
(And wait to watch the water clear, I may):
I sha'n't be gone long. You come too.

I'm going out to fetch the little calf
That's standing by the mother. It's so young,
It totters when she licks it with her tongue.
I sha'n't be gone long. You come too."

The end

I retire from the workforce this week and to celebrate have decided to retire my current blogs and start afresh with a single consolidated blog - My Bright Field - to record the delights of my new life adventure.
If you are interested follow me over there.  I will still be Sweet Wayfaring and collecting Royal Hotels.  The delights I discover along the way will appear together with my gardens and towns where I live.
