Is that a Coolibah tree beside the abandoned house? Every Australian knows about Coolibah trees because the bush ballad Waltzing Matilda is nigh on our unoffical national anthem but most of us live nowhere near the inland where they grow. Once a jolly swagman camped by a billabong, Under the shade of a Coolibah tree, And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled, You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me. Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda, You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me, And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me.
"To muse, to creep, to halt at will, to gaze ... such sweet wayfaring"
William Wordsworth
The Flinders Ranges NP is fantastic! I'm always surprised it doesn't appear on Australia's Top 10 National Parks lists!
ReplyDeleteHappy Travels!
I especially enjoy the water by the rock wall. Beautiful spot!
ReplyDeleteNot much to the hut but the fireplace was good.
ReplyDeleteThank you for those beautiful pictures of the Flinders Ranges. Many years since we were there so it was great to visit again, through your eyes. The Ranges have such a distinctive fold-like appearance don't they. It's certainly an incredible area and you captured the intense colours. Much appreciated :D
ReplyDeleteShepherd is a strange word in this environment ... I want alpine meadows and clanking bells ... and crooks ...
ReplyDeleteI liked this post then, and I love it now! Thanx for playing!!
