Sunny skies

Our strategy paid off, look at the sunshine.  The people of Sydney and the mountains had a soggy weekend and we were enjoying crisp sunny weather.  This is the Catholic church in Mudgee, not hidden   by the bare winter trees.   We stopped at Mudgee for a bite to eat before moving into some new territory.

Actually this was the second weekend in a row we had been in Mudgee. The previous weekend we went to the Farm Field Day which is quite a big event and genuinely rural. While I enjoyed it I was not having a very good photographic time so I doubt I will be showing the shots unless I run dry ... this trip was more exciting.

  1. This is a most impressive church, if I remember correctly. Just near the round-about with the war memorial clock ... I think. I liked Mudgee.

  2. I still think that church is impressive for a country town.

  3. Yes it is one of two churches near the clock and they are both impressive. I love sandstone buildings.

  4. Just how a church should look.

Windy August

Tumbleweed It was August (known to be a windy month of the year) and it was blowing a gale.  Tumbleweeds hurtled across our path, pressed forward by the busy wind. While I was photographing the tumbleweed, I braved the icy blast to find a few more tiny flowers and fruits by the roadside.

Big sky country 3

The Pinnacles, Broken Hill Clear blue sky is very dull!  But there is something of interest in the image.  These odd shaped mountains appear on the skyline just outside the city. I had planned otherwise for my closing sky today.  On a hill outside town there are wonderful sandstone sculptures which I saw the last time I was here. I planned to photograph them against the setting sun but we left our run too late, so you don’t get to see them until our return journey.
