This one was over the road from the photo I was really taking but I like it a lot, it speaks to the country we were driving through.

  1. A beaut Aussie country scene.

  2. Dianne, dunno but I did wonder that myself.

  3. Yeah, I reckon shearers' accommodation. Did you see the film 'Sunday too far Away' with Jack Thompson? They had a shed like this that the shearers camped in.

  4. Now that I have been in the area, I think this photo well represents the area. Love the cliffs in the background.

  5. Julie, no I have not seen the movie but I can think of no other reason for a bunk house like this.

Winam, I really enjoyed your photos of the area.

The filmy veil of greenness

We crossed the border into Victoria cruising down a lovely timbered road before breaking into the rich dairy country of Gippsland. It is wonderful to see the land green after more than 10 years of very dry weather. But most of the state of Victoria is still drought declared.

The Pasture by Robert Frost
"I'm going out to clean the pasture spring;
I'll only stop to rake the leaves away
(And wait to watch the water clear, I may):
I sha'n't be gone long. You come too.

I'm going out to fetch the little calf
That's standing by the mother. It's so young,
It totters when she licks it with her tongue.
I sha'n't be gone long. You come too."

The end

I retire from the workforce this week and to celebrate have decided to retire my current blogs and start afresh with a single consolidated blog - My Bright Field - to record the delights of my new life adventure.
If you are interested follow me over there.  I will still be Sweet Wayfaring and collecting Royal Hotels.  The delights I discover along the way will appear together with my gardens and towns where I live.

Over the road from the rose gardens in Bendigo, a beaut second hand bookshop.
