Is that a Coolibah tree beside the abandoned house? Every Australian knows about Coolibah trees because the bush ballad Waltzing Matilda is nigh on our unoffical national anthem but most of us live nowhere near the inland where they grow. Once a jolly swagman camped by a billabong, Under the shade of a Coolibah tree, And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled, You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me. Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda, You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me, And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me.
"To muse, to creep, to halt at will, to gaze ... such sweet wayfaring"
William Wordsworth
Love this composition. The canoes are lovely, and their colours a joy. But the stillness of the pier and its reflection MAKE this image.
ReplyDeleteKeep groooooovin' ... !
ReplyDeleteI agree - fantastic composition! feels like a relaxing day.
ReplyDeleteUh, I don't know if I would be comfortable in a pink boat:):)
ReplyDeleteEmile, it is funny that you should say that. The title of this post was in some ways a salute to Jessica Watson who sailed solo around the world when only 16 years old ... her yacht was pink and named Pink Lady.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that you are having a relaxing time. This view would calm anyone.
ReplyDeleteThis is my new year's resolution! (not really a resolution - but I'm going with it)
ReplyDeleteFor 4 years now I've been dreaming of owning a canoe/surfski and taking myself off a'paddlin'.
(vince would like a jet-ski - so we can go together - not quite sure how that is going to work).
I've never seen pink ones before.
Wait til I show Vince!
I really love this shot :) actually your whole journey south was great to see.
