Is that a Coolibah tree beside the abandoned house? Every Australian knows about Coolibah trees because the bush ballad Waltzing Matilda is nigh on our unoffical national anthem but most of us live nowhere near the inland where they grow. Once a jolly swagman camped by a billabong, Under the shade of a Coolibah tree, And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled, You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me. Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda, You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me, And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me.

Shearer's accommodation???
ReplyDeleteA beaut Aussie country scene.
ReplyDeleteDianne, dunno but I did wonder that myself.
ReplyDeleteawesome photo
ReplyDeleteYeah, I reckon shearers' accommodation. Did you see the film 'Sunday too far Away' with Jack Thompson? They had a shed like this that the shearers camped in.
ReplyDeleteNow that I have been in the area, I think this photo well represents the area. Love the cliffs in the background.
ReplyDeleteJulie, no I have not seen the movie but I can think of no other reason for a bunk house like this.
ReplyDeleteWinam, I really enjoyed your photos of the area.
