Postbox

A couple of months ago I posted an image of post boxes that caused a lot of interest. So I couldn't pass up the opportunity to show you the post box at the irrigation farmyard gate ... yes it is an old microwave oven.

  1. How inventive! The best thing to do with any microwave ...

I love farms that have fences painted white ... makes them clean and tidy and picturesque ... must be painful to have to maintain though.

  2. Here the white is restricted to the farm gate. The fence is barbed wire, in fact you can see this in the photo.

White fences seem to be mostly the preserve of horse farms or used by city farmers (think Southern Highlands, Hunter Valley). There is a Wagyu beef stud out Oberon way that also has miles of very impressive fencing but it is clearly backed by international money. I guess I'm agreeing such fences are expensive to erect and maintain.

They are not really my cup of tea because where there are white fences everything else is too tidy to be fun.

  6. I can see what you mean about the tidiness and the big money.

  7. Yes, white fences remind me of Southfork Ranch or something like this.

The microwave idea is really cool - but on the other hand not very aesthetic, isn't it?

The end

I retire from the workforce this week and to celebrate have decided to retire my current blogs and start afresh with a single consolidated blog - My Bright Field - to record the delights of my new life adventure.
If you are interested follow me over there.  I will still be Sweet Wayfaring and collecting Royal Hotels.  The delights I discover along the way will appear together with my gardens and towns where I live.
